Edwin William Jewell of Millington passed away suddenly on November 13, 2019, at the age of 72.
Ed was born on February 8, 1947, to Clinton and Ethelyn Jewell. He was a 1965 graduate of Millington High School. He had a passion for working hard and taking great pride everything he completed. After many years in the workforce, he started his own siding installation business with both sons working with him at various times. Later in life, he attended trucking school and became a self-employed truck driver. He was married to Lana Jewell for 39 years and together had two children; Edwin Ray and Ted Marvin. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed including dancing and listening to old-time country music. He also enjoyed traveling, walking, attending local high school football games, tinkering with mechanical things or just relaxing while watching one of his favorite movies, Napolean Dynamite.
Spending time with his family and friends brought joy to his life. He was a charitable giver to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and to his local church. He was very proud of the fact that he finished building his final home just across the street from the homestead he grew up in. Ed’s sense of humor was contagious, and he enjoyed the occasional prank. He took a lot of pride in giving to others. Three words that would sum up Ed’s life would be overcomer, empathy and “Go Go Go!”
Ed is survived by his girlfriend, Karen, his children, Ed (Ann) Jewell; Ted (Sarah) Jewell. Grandchildren, Alyssa, Ted, Austin, Deven and Aleigha. His sisters, Joyce Bickel, Greta (Jim) Opperman, Kay (Bruce) Hemingway and Linda (Daryl) Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin and brother-in-law Vic Bickel.
