Alvin Addison Oliver of Millington, MI formerly of Otisville, MI passed away early Tuesday morning July 27, 2021, at the age of 89.
Alvin was born on October 27, 1931, in West Branch, Michigan and was the son of the late Adam and Margaret Oliver. After finishing school Alvin served our country in the US-Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea, he went to work for General Motors, and retired from Fischer Body after 38 years of employment. Alvin loved reading, was an avid history buff, enjoyed working on and restoring old tractors. He was often seen at the Country Buffett, hanging out at his daughters’ antique shop “Cozy Cottage” visiting with customers. Alvin loved people and having a conversation with people from all walks of life. He never forgot a birthday, and his biggest joy of all; was being with family. He was an active member of the Richfield Church of the Nazarene, and of the Otisville Historical Society. His warm smile and friendly conversation will be missed but never forgotten.
Alvin leaves to cherish his memory a daughter and son in-law; Pamela (Mike) Ratza. Two granddaughters; Trisha (Matt) Slough, Dana (Keith) Jones. His great grandchildren: Nick (Taylor) Jones, Brennan (Corrine)Jones, AshLynn Jones, Oliva Jones, McKenna, and Issac Slough, and great-grandson Karsyn, and a sister Dene Craft. He also leaves nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends. Alvin is preceded in death by his wife Deloris, and his siblings.
The family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Friday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and for a brief time Saturday at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene from 10:00 am until services begin. Funeral services for Alvin will be on Saturday July 31, 2021, beginning at 11:00 am at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene [7524 E. Mt. Morris Rd. Otisville, MI 48463]. A private burial will follow at the Edwards Twp. Cemetery in West Branch, Michigan. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
