Arlene M. Loomis

Arlene M. Loomis, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Vassar Comfort Care.

Arlene was born in Hale, Michigan, on June 7, 1940, to parents Lafayette & Lucy (Turland) Short. On June 6, 1959, Arlene married the love of her life, Robert Loomis Sr. Together they shared countless memories, raised their three children, and celebrated 44 years of marriage before his passing in 2003. Before retirement, Arlene held several positions such as: a nurse’s aide, production at United Plastics, and drove school bus for Millington schools. Arlene was blessed with a green thumb and was an avid gardener and was always ready to run to a good rummage sale.  In the winter months you would find her making afghan’s for the grandkids.  Above all, Arlene’s pride & joy was her family and the time she spent with them.

Arlene is survived by her children: Robert (Colleen) Loomis II, Rodney (Valora) Loomis, and Tammy Richard; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray (Phyllis) Short, and George Short; sisters, Lucille Stephen, and Linda (Ron) Allen; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Loomis Sr; son-in-law, Robert Richard; granddaughter, April Birman; several siblings; and her parents.

Funeral services for Arlene will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Hanlin Funeral Home – Millington; visitation begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until the time of service.  Afterwards, Arlene will be laid to rest in Millington Twp. Cemetery, next to her husband, Robert.

The family wishes to thank Vassar Comfort Care and Harmony Hospice for all their loving care they showed Arlene.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Millington Community Center or Vassar Comfort Care as a tribute to Arlene’s memory.
