VISITATION: Bob's family will welcome visitors to Hanlin Funeral Home in Vassar from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

FUNERAL: Funeral services for Bob will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 14, 2026; visitation at church will begin at 10:00 A.M. and last until the time of service. Rev. Matthew Arnold will preside. Burial and military funeral honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Vassar.

Robert Clare Ziegler passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026 at the age of 76.

He was born on September 30, 1949 to Bonnie Riedel and Clare Ziegler. The first of 6 children, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers David & Mark, and grandson Kyle. He is survived by his brother Larry, sister Deborah & (Don) Collins, and brother Timothy.

Bob married Wanda Walker in September, 1968 and were together for 13 years. They had 2 children: Scott & (Charney) Ziegler and Angie & (Adam) Rooney; 5 grandchildren: Michael (Jessica), Kelly, Emily, Emilee Kay Lynn, Angel; & 4 great-grandchildren: Nolan, Nash, Weston & Waylon.

In August of 1984 Bob married Margaret (Birk) Barnett and were together for 42 years. Bob gained 3 more children: Chuck (Deb) Barnett, Ann (Marty) Zwerk, & Tom Barnett; 8 grandchildren: Krista, Collin, Haley (Tyler), Landon (Claire), Macy (Dean), Lainey, Josh (Kendra), & Madison & 8 great-grandchildren: Sofia, Olivia, Harvey, Duncan, Briar, Leland, Alana, & Ella.

Bob was a 1967 graduate of Vassar High School. After graduation, he worked for the city of Vassar. In December of 1967 he joined the Army Reserves and served for 6 years.

Bob worked for General Motors & Penske as a truck driver for 38 years and retired in 2009. He was a seasonal sugar beet truck driver for Zwerk & Sons Farms and also transported vehicles for Michigan Kenworth.

Bob was baptized in 1969 and became a life-long member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar for over 50 years. Over the years, he served as an usher and a financial secretary.

Bob loved watching sports and spending time outside working on his lawn and woods. His biggest passion was spending time with his family. He was always helping his children and grandchildren with whatever project they had. He loved going to sporting events and hardly ever missed a chance to watch his grandchildren play whatever sports they were involved in. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by so many!
