Dolores Jean Kennard, age 90, of Vassar, passed away surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and devotion to others. She was the beloved wife of Raymond Kennard and a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend whose gentle spirit touched countless lives.
Dolores found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She was deeply involved in her church choir and the musical mommas group. She treasured the Tuesday neighborhood knitting group. Her hands were rarely still, whether she was painting pictures, China, quilting, knitting, or crocheting, she created beauty in everything she touched. She never purchased greeting cards because every card she gave was lovingly hand painted, each one as unique and thoughtful as she was.
Family was at the center of Dolores’s life. She was a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a loving great grandmother to 18 great grandchildren. She poured her heart into caring for children and spent much of her life nurturing and helping others. Many babies were welcomed into the world wrapped in outfits lovingly made by her hands, stitched with warmth and love.
Dolores will be remembered for her generous heart, her creativity, her faith, and the endless love she shared with family and friends. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched with kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Dolores is survived by her husband Raymond Kennard, son Michael [Mary] Kennard, daughter Kim Cunningham, daughter Karen [Dale] Becker, grandchildren, Elaine, Erik, Jeremy, Joshua, Amanda, Ashley, Heather, Bridget, Zach, and Emily.
Dolores leaves her siblings; Mary Louise Levis and Randy Perry.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Amelia Perry, brother, Howard Perry, sister, Ruth Ann Whaley, sister Donna Wilson, and a son David Kennard.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 6, 2026 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Vassar beginning at 11:00 am.. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 am.
