Donald (Don) Taylor

Mr. Donald J. (Don) Taylor of the Otter Lake and Millington, MI areas passed away mid-Sunday afternoon May 24, 2020. Don was 96.

Don was born on April 29, 1924 in Flint, Michigan and was the son of the late Roy & Rita (Walter) Taylor. Don served our country during WW-II in the US-Army, serving in the Philippian Theater. After the war he returned home and went to work for General Motors working in the Buick Motor Division as a stock room manager. Don retired in 1972 after 32 years of employment. On June 12 of 1970, Don married Dorothy and together they have celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Don leaves his wife, Dorothy. He also leaves seven children, Jerry (Darlene) Baggett, Debbie Taylor, Janice Baggett, Bethany Saunders, Douglas (Doug) Tayler, Denise Taylor, Deborah (Mike) D’ Aigle, Wesley (Lisa) Taylor. Don leaves also several grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Shirley Gilmore, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.  Besides his parents, Don is preceded in death by two son’s Jerry and Steve Taylor, and a sister Betty Gean.

The Taylor family will receive friends on Thursday at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI from 3:00pm until 6:00 pm. The family will honor Don’s request and cremation will follow. A private burial of Don’s urn will take place at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holy, MI. There will be a celebration of Don’s life for friends and neighbors to attend later.

Due to current circumstances and in compliance with public safety standards, visitors are permitted to pay their respects to the Taylor family. However, face coverings must be worn, social distancing rules apply, and no more than 10 individuals are permitted within Hanlin Funeral Home at any one time.
