Dorothy M. Gasper

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Gasper, age 96, went home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 4, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born on August 27, 1928, in Mt. Morris, Michigan, to Arthur & Flossie (Hunt) Perkins. On August 30, 1947, she wed the love of her life, Matthew “Matt” Gasper. Together they shared countless memories, raised their children, and celebrated 67 years of marriage before Matt’s passing in 2014. Dorothy loved the Lord and was an active member of the Millington United Methodist Church and involved in the church’s choir, and a Sunday school teacher. Further, Dorothy loved to crochet and play board games, especially rummikub, and euchre. Dorothy was also active in the Millington Community Center’s quilting club and in the Millington Christmas Festival as Mrs. Claus, for over 25 years. She and Matt loved to travel and successfully visited all 50 states. Above all, Dorothy loved her family, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Darla) Gasper and Dan (Kathy) Gasper; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Matt Gasper; son, Matthew David Gasper; daughter-in-law, Diane Gasper; great-granddaughter, Ava; and all 9 of her siblings.

Dorothy’s family will receive visitors at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Funeral services for Dorothy will follow at the Millington United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025; additional visitation at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Afterwards, Dorothy will be laid to rest in Millington Twp. Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Matt Gasper.
