ARBELA TWP - Mr. Frederick “Fred” Rodammer, age 81, our kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away following some lingering health issues on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022, at Covenant – Cooper, Saginaw.
Fred was born on October 13th, 1941, in Arbela Twp., to parents Elmer & Esther (Keinath) Rodammer. He was raised on the family farm alongside his siblings. He went to St. Paul’s Lutheran School and attended Vassar High School, where he then met his life-long friend Ken Rogner and graduated with the Class of 1959. Following graduation, he served honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard for four years. He met Gloria Ann List, and they were married on February 3rd, 1962, at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Fred worked 12 years at Universal Engineering and upon earning his journeyman’s card he went on to work at Saginaw Steering Gear, Skilled Trades as a toolmaker, retiring out of Dept. 16 The Research & Development tool room in 2005.
His hobbies changed with the seasons and included salmon fishing in the Great Lakes, hunting in Northern Michigan, working on the family farm, meeting friends at the K.W., and walking his faithful dog, Chip. Fred was a lifelong Vassar resident and member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millington.
He is forever loved by his wife of 60 years, Gloria; sons, Phillip (Katarina) Rodammer of Vicenza, Italy, and Brian Rodammer of Vassar; grandchildren, Matthew Rodammer and Elissa Rodammer; siblings: Dwight Rodammer, Mary (Gerald) Hecht, and Dennis (Jeannie) Rodammer; brothers-in-law, Danny (Donna) List, and Tom (Lorrie) List; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family invites guests to St. Paul Lutheran Church (4941 Center St, Millington, MI 48746) from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9th, 2022. Services for Fred will begin at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Fred’s name are asked to consider St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wounded Warriors, or a charity of one’s choice.
