Gerald Keinath

January 15, 1935 — May 24, 2017

Mr. Gerald A (Jerry) Keinath a life time Millington resident passed away suddenly Wednesday evening May 24, 2017 at his residence. Jerry was 82.

Jerry was the son of the late Winfred and Linda (Haubenstricker) Keinath and was born I Arbela Township, Michigan. He grew up in Millington; and graduated from Millington High School. After high school Jerry served our country in the US-Army. While he was in the Army he achieved the metal of Sharp-Shooter, of which he was very proud. After the service, Jerry came home and went to work for the Buick Motor Division of General Motors. On May 22 of 1965 Jerry Married Miss Diane Skinner, and together they have celebrated 52 years of marriage. After Jerry retired he went to work for Joseph Chevrolet as a dealer trade driver, and continued doing so for the current McDonald Chevrolet-Cadillac dealer in Millington. Jerry was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church were for many years he served as an Usher. He was a casual member of the East Tawas Fraternal Order of the Eagles, he was a top giver to the Red Cross Blood Drives, something he was very proud of, and he was a member of the Millington Lions Club.

Jerry leaves his wife Diane. He also leaves two daughters; Kristene Chappell, and Keri Keinath & William (Bill) Walmsley. Four grandchildren; Michael, Allana, Hailee, and Mark, a great-granddaughter Taylor. His siblings; Eunice & Ralph Weiss, Betty Weiss, Edna & Daryl McLaren, and Joan & Dick Hunt. Jerry leaves also several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Besides his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by; four brothers; Clarence, Dale, Tom, and Arno.


The family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Wednesday May 31, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and for a brief time on Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 12:00 pm until the services begin. Funeral services for Jerry will be on Thursday June 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Following the services the family will honor Jerry’s request and cremation will follow. Final burial of his urn will be a private service. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, or to a charity of one’s choice.
