Hallie Greenwood

Hallie Greenwood, a longtime resident of Vassar, Michigan, passed from our world into God’s Kingdom Saturday evening at the age of 88 years.

Hallie was born in Caro, MI on June 1, 1934, to the late Hallie and Eva (Holmes) Greenwood. Raised in Vassar, Hallie graduated from Vassar High School where his passion for sports developed. His love for and involvement in sports continued beyond his high school years, playing in men’s softball and basketball leagues well into his adult life.

Hallie married his high school sweetheart, Miss Patricia Heidt, on August 21, 1954, and together they share 68 years of marriage. As a young man, Hallie also proudly served in the United States Army. Hallie worked for Walbro Industry in both Caro and Cass City as a Plant Supervisor for many years before retiring. He also worked at Cook GM Superstore in his retirement. Hallie was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar, where he served the church in many different capacities, including time as Church President.

Above all, Hallie was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was his pride and joy. Hallie also loved camping, as well as following and watching sports. He was a true-blue University of Michigan fan through and through. His smile and willingness to help will be missed but never forgotten. Rest well, Hallie.

Hallie is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; children, Tim (Dorothy) Greenwood, Lisa (John) Liparoto, and Paul (Christine) Greenwood, as well as six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two nieces, extended family, and many dear friends.

Hallie is preceded in death by both of his parents, sister Berneta, daughter-in-law Teresa, and son-in-law Dan.

At Hallie’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Hallie’s life will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar, MI on Saturday, February 25^th at 11:00 am. Following the service, a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held in the parish hall.
