MILLINGTON - Harvey Frederick Sherman Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 25, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family. Harvey was born on August 9, 1943, in his Grandma Atwood's home in Millington, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey (Harve) and Helen Sherman, his father and mother-in-law Warren and Mary Jennings, his sister-in-law Linda Sherman, his sister and brother-in-law Janice and Bill Baldwin, sister-in-law Doreen Jennings, and his precious great-granddaughter Aurora Navarro. Harvey is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Kathy Sherman, whose unwavering love and partnership were the cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a family that stands as a testament to their lifelong commitment.

Harvey was a proud graduate of Millington High School, class of 1962, and went on to excel as a journeyman tool and die maker. His career at General Motors Truck and Bus in Flint, MI, was marked by his exemplary work ethic and dedication. Beyond his professional life, Harvey made significant contributions to his community. He served on the Millington Community Schools Board of Education, where he played a crucial role in the construction of the current Millington High School and the development of the Millington Academic M program.

Harvey was an active member of Country Christian Church in North Branch, MI where he served as a greeter for many years. His love for his town was evident through his involvement with the Millington-Arbela Historical Society and the Water Wonderland Coon Hunter Association. Harvey’s passion for the outdoors was a defining aspect of his life. He was an avid gardener, hunter, trapper, and fisherman who cherished spending time with his family in the great outdoors. One of his most cherished pastimes was picking wildflowers with his great grandchildren from his many wildflower gardens.

Harvey leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, son Harvey III (Tammy) Sherman and daughter Dawn (Gary) Burns. His siblings, sister Alice (Mike) Blackmer and brother Stanley Sherman. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert (Ruth) Jennings, sister-in-law Geri (Roger) Gillam, brother-in-law Don (Blanche) Jennings, and a host of grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart: Crystal (Ben) Navarro, Gary Jr. (Jessica) Burns, Jacob (Caitlyn) Sherman, Helen Sherman, Alexandra (Austin) Harris, and Sara (Anthony) Edwards. Harvey was blessed with ten great-grandchildren and eagerly awaited the arrival of another, ensuring his loving spirit lives on in the next generation.
