James Cleven Michael Sr. left this worldly home on January 8, 2024, at the age of 88, to his heavenly home to be with his beloved wife, Mary Josephine Michael "Mary Jo". James was in his home surrounded by the family that was closest to him.
James was considered by anyone that knew him to be a great and loving man. James loved his family very much. He also loved fishing, hunting, mushrooming, and just being in the woods. James spent many hours showing his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren the joys of being in nature.
Aside from being a lifetime member of the Millington Masonic Lodge, James was a drywaller by trade who enjoyed working so much that he worked until he contracted COVID in 2020 at the age of 85, which made it impossible for him to continue. When James was diagnosed with lung cancer he was determined to be here to meet his newest great-great-grandchild, Evelyn Josephine Phipps, and his newest great-grandchild, Charlee Patricia Michael. He fulfilled that goal and was able to enjoy the feeling of holding them in his arms.
James was married to Mary Josephine Bodag and had 67 wonderful years with her. They had four children: David J. Michael, James (Carolyn) C. Michael Jr., Patrick (Mary) A. Michael, and Yvonne (Mark) Coleman. He had so many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; all of whom he loved dearly. James left behind his loving sister, Fayreen Hensley, and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jo Michael; father, Houston Michael; mother, Josie; father-in-law, Michael Bodag; mother-in-law, Mary Bodag; brothers, Lacy Michael, Lloyd Michael, Lester Michael, JB Michael, MC Michael, and Cecil Michael; and sisters, Florence Hester, Lois Wallace, and Loreene Holland.
James will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and we will all forever remember the mark he left on this world.
Funeral services for James will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Hanlin Funeral Home - Millington; visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Following, James will be laid to rest next to his wife, Mary Jo, in Millington Twp. Cemetery.
