J.H. Daniel Coleman of Millington went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully Monday evening at his residence, Daniel was 85.
Daniel was the son of the late Holland & Bertha (Helton) Coleman and was born in Whitewood, Virginia. on March 2, 1940. On March 31, 1962, he married Beverly Wainwright and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Daniel was employed with the Buick Motor Division of General Motor. As a young man he served our country in the US – Air Force for 9 years, he was a long-time member of the Conrad Wager & Keene American Legion Post 164 of Millington as a member he assisted the post with many Military Graveside Honors for his brother Veterans.
Daniel was a faithful follower of Christ and an active member of Higher Praise Church in Swartz Creek, Michigan. He poured his life into mentoring young people through the Bible Quiz program, serving for many years as the Michigan District Bible Quiz Coordinator. Daniel also gave generously of his time at the PCG Crystal Creek Christian Campground in Columbiaville, where he devoted countless hours to caring for the grounds and faithfully handling a wide range of responsibilities.
Daniel enjoyed reading, bowling, and found great joy in the outdoors through hunting and fishing. A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Daniel proudly shared his love for the Yankees with his children and grandchildren, creating many memories.
Above all, Daniel was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife Beverly, children; Dawn Marie Gouine, John Daniel & Lorie Coleman, and Jill Renee Seaton. His nine grandchildren and their spouses; Sarah & Jeff Dunn, Chad & Christina Coleman, Bethany & Tyler Morse, Caleb & Milan Coleman, Tyler Seaton, Jacob & Mattea Gouine, Molly & Chad Fuwell, Lucas Seaton, and Emily & Dallas Herndon. Daniels great grandchildren; Chloe, Carly, Max, Caleb, Mikayla, Colton, Asher, Luka, Symcah, Marcella, Jeter, Daniel, Dallas, and Ezra. He is survived by five brothers, Harvey, Boyd, Elmer, Doug, and H.B., and three sisters, Narcie, Linda, and Jan, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Daniel will be held on Saturday January 3, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Higher Praise Church [4060 Grand Blanc Rd Swartz Creek MI 48473] with Rev. Don Dennis and Rev. Caleb Coleman officiating. There will be a brief time of visiting Saturday morning at the church beginning at 10:00 am. Visitation will be at the Hanlin Funeral Home [4823 Main St Millington, MI 48746] on Friday January 2, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance in Daniels memory can be directed to his church Higher Praise, or to the Michigan District Pentecostal Church of God Campground, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
