Mr. Laverne A. Boyd of Millington, MI passed away early Wednesday evening June 1, 2022, at the age of 85.
Laverne was born on April 24, 1937, in Mt. Morris, MI and was the son of the late Waldo & Rena Gibbs Boyd. Laverne served in the US-Air Force serving his duty between the Korean and Vietnam wars. When he returned from serving he went to work for AC/Delphi of General Motors, retiring as a Job Setter. On December 5, 1996, Laverne married Lois (Smeaton) Carlson and together they have celebrated 25 years of marriage. Laverne was a longtime member of the Millington United Methodist Church of which he was very active in attendance and serving in the church. He was a longtime member of the Millington Masonic Lodge. He loved working and nurturing his garden and working in his yard. You would often find him tinkering with things in his garage or working on his tractors.
Laverne leaves behind his wife Lois and children Jody Boyd, Amy (Frenchy) French, Kenneth (Theresa) Carlson, Victoria Burton, Pamela Tribbey (Rex Dege), Landon (Kelli) Carlson and Erica (Craig) Petzold. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren whom he adored and loved spending time with. He also leaves behind his sisters Esther Perkins and Irene (Ron) Ledbetter. He is preceded in death by his parents Waldo and Rena Boyd, his sisters Bernice and Sharon.
In keeping with Laverne’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday June 11, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Millington United Methodist Church.
