Naperville, IL

Lawrence “Larry” David Watters, age 77, of Naperville, IL. Born on May 29, 1948, in Galesburg, IL. Larry had just celebrated his 77th birthday.

Larry was a proud graduate of Galesburg Senior High School, Class of 1966, where he was elected both Homecoming King and Student Council President. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Illinois State University in 1970. He married Diane Sprague Watters in 1979, who he is survived by.

After college, Larry began what would become a 41-year career with State Farm Insurance. Through his work, he touched the lives of many and built lasting relationships grounded in integrity and service.

In retirement, Larry found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending summers in Florida, retreating to his peaceful cabin in Michigan, and taking long drives with the top down in his convertible. But above all, Larry cherished time with his grandchildren.

He had a deep appreciation for nature and animals, especially dogs, who were always drawn to his gentle spirit. Larry loved the Lord and had a personal relationship with Jesus which gave him comfort through hard times. His family finds much peace in knowing that he is home with his Heavenly Father.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn Fritz Watters and Robert Clark Watters, his brother Robert Clark Watters Jr., and his grandson Crew Abram Smith.

He is also survived by his sister, Sandie Watters Reinicker; his five children: Lindsay (Steve) Neil, Lance Watters, Lisa (Ashton) Smith, Laney (Louie) Giovannetti, and Leah (Zachary) Puck; and his twelve cherished grandchildren: Caleb, Hailey, Kelsey, Ryan, Shane, Tanner, Chase, Rhett, Mason, Ellie, Ava, and Charlotte. He is also survived by his aunt, Joyce Watters Louderman, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will miss him deeply.

A small intimate memorial gathering will be held by his family in the near future.

In every chapter of his life, Larry led with kindness, humor, and heart. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched and the family who loved him dearly.
