Marilyn (Bender) Graubner

Mrs. Marilyn (Bender) Graubner of Vassar, Michigan passed from our world into God’s Kingdom Tuesday morning July 12, 2022, at the age of 91.

Marilyn was the daughter of the late Ernest & Adelia (Engelhardt) Bender and was born on June 22, 1931, in Tuscola Township, Michigan.  On June 15, 1955, Marilyn married Ronald Graubner, and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage before Ron’s passing away in September of 2006. Marilyn was an active and long-time member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar, Michigan. There she taught Sunday School to the nursery children for many years. She loved children!  She was employed as a bookkeeper for several businesses and was adept at sewing and seamstress work.  If you wanted a good challenge playing cribbage, Marilyn was the one to beat, and liked card games of all kinds.  Her door was always open to visits from friends and family, and she was a favorite aunt to many of her nieces and nephews.

Marilyn leaves her family to cherish her memory. Her children: John E. Graubner, Kay-Lynn (Peter) Johnston, Paul Graubner, and David (Marielle) Graubner. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister in-law: Martin (Bud) & Sherri Bender, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Besides her husband and parents, Marilyn was also preceded in death by a daughter Rhonda in 2022, and her other siblings.

Friends may call on the family on Monday, July 18, 2022, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. there at St. Luke’s.  A luncheon and a time of fellowship will follow the funeral at the church fellowship hall. The burial will be at Rich Township Cemetery in Mayville, Michigan with graveside services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
