Mary (Dawe) Hoard

Mrs. Mary (Dawe) Hoard of Millington, Michigan passed away early Friday morning May 15, 2020. At the age of 90.

Mary was born in Grand Blanc, Michigan on November 7, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and May Belle (Taylor) Dawe. On March 8, 1951 Mary was united in marriage to A.E. (Bud) Hoard, and together they have celebrated 69 years of marriage.  Mary at one time worked for the Millington Public School’s as a teacher’s aide. She was also a long-time member of the Millington United Methodist Church.  Mary worked for a while at the AC-Spark Plug Division of General Motors, and eventually left there to be a stay at home Mom. She enjoyed sewing and made a lot of her daughters’ clothes when they were young. Her daughters are all immensely proud of the women they have become because of the example Mary was to them.

Mary leaves her husband Bud. She also leaves five daughters, Karen Cummins, Patricia Hoard, Kay & Bob Groulx, Janet & Dave Mercer, and Hope & Randy Oryszczak.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Besides her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by two brothers; Dick and Walter Dawe, and a sister; Lena (Dawe) Bobb.

The family has honored Mary’s wishes and cremation has taken place with and a private burial of her urn at the Millington Township Cemetery.  There will be a celebration of her life later. As the date, place and time become available we will post them.  Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to the Millington United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
