Mary Ellen Stewart, of Millington, passed away on May 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Mary will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit, her devotion to her family, and the joy she found in life’s simple moments.

Mary was born in Millington, Michigan, where she spent much of her life and built countless cherished memories. She married the love of her life, Bob Stewart, on March 12, 1991, after the two met while living in Millington. Together they shared 35 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and family.

Mary worked at the local Five and Dime store in Millington and later worked as a bank teller at Mayville State Bank for 22 years, where she was known for her kindness and warm personality. Outside of work, she loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening and enjoying the sunshine.

Above all else, Mary treasured her family. Her grandchildren meant everything to her, and she especially loved watching them play sports and supporting them in all they did.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Bob Stewart; her children, John Stiff, Chad Stiff, Craig and Nicole (Wooldridge) Stiff; her grandchildren, Randi Parrish, Anika Sykes, Ian Stiff, and Emmitt Stiff; her great-grandchild, Dewey Plumb; and many loving family members and friends.

She is also survived by her siblings, Duane Mosher, Gary and Clara (Marcum) Mosher, Dick and Sharon (Mosher) Gross, and Joan (Mosher) Brow.

Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harlon and Ella Leix and Charles and Drucela Mosher; her parents, Clifford and Evelyn Mosher.

Mary’s kindness, love for family, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

"God's Garden"

God looked upon his garden and saw an empty place,

He looked upon the earth and saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.

He saw that you were suffering and he knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.

So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered, 'Peace be thine'.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone.

A part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
