Mary Gail Swartz, 68, of Clio, MI, passed away on Sunday, January 25th, 2026, in her winter home in Sarasota, FL.
Mary was born in Flint, Michigan on April 29th, 1957 and raised in Millington, MI by Tom and Betty Sheets. She attended Millington High School and met her husband, Mark, at the Mennonite Youth Fellowship and were married on Christmas Eve, 1977. Mary was a loving homemaker for most of her adult life but also managed a family-owned cleaning service and worked for Kettering University while her son, Josh, attended college. Mary had many passions, including attending her sons’ sporting events and extracurricular activities. She loved to travel with her husband to warm climates to visit beaches and work on her tan. Spending her free time working with individuals with Down Syndrome, especially her nieces Lori and Dorrell, filled her with great joy. Mary cherished hosting and sharing stories with her family during Thanksgiving and spoiling her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by Mark Swartz (husband of 48 years), Andrew Swartz (son), Joshua Swartz (son), Anna Swartz (daughter-in-law), and 4 grandchildren (Tayler, Addison, Jackson, Peyton).
Services will be held at the Pineview Mennonite Church in Vassar, MI on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive visitors at church from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the T1D, formerly Juvenile Diabetes foundation, (breakthrought1d.org), The Gator Wilderness Camp (gatorwildernesscamp.com)or Tesoros de Dios (tesorosdedios.org).
