Mr.Harvey Hawkins

Mr. Harvey (Sonny) Hawkins of Millington went home to be with his Lord late Sunday afternoon January 23, 2011, Sonny was 85.

Harvey Hawkins was the son of Harvey & Pearl (Bickel) Hawkins and was born in St. Ignas Michigan on February 14, 1925. On March 22, 1944 in Flint Michigan Harvey married his wife of 66 years Miss Dorothy Culhane. Harvey has been a Millington resident most of his adult life. Harvey loved his farm and raising his cows. He and Dorothy were currently members of the Vassar Church of the Nazarene.

Harvey leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Dorothy, four daughters and three sons in-law; Sharon Shirkey, Linda and Fred Colosky, Dorothy and James Stanley, and Kathleen and Eugene Sampson, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 1-sister Betty Knowlton, 2-half brothers ; Larry and Henry Sweppy and 2-half sisters; Billie Meyers and Naomi. Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, 2 brothers, a son in-law Calvin Shirkey and a grandson Todd Lee Shirkey.

Service Information

Funeral services were held on Thursday January 27, 2011 at the Vassar Nazarene Church. The burial followed at the Millington Township Cemetery. Pastor David Wermuth delivered the funeral message and the closing prayers at the cemetery. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the Sunday School Class Room Building Fund.
