Larry F. Shannon of Vassar, MI private family services have been held. Larry passed away on Wednesday July 21, 2016 while at the Wellspring Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth, MI. Larry was 70.


Larry was born in Caro, Michigan on July 28, 1945, and was the son of the late Benjamin & Celia (Rowley) Shannon. He’s been a Vassar resident his entire life, and was a graduate of Vassar High School. Larry served our country during the Vietnam War in the US-Air Force. On November 10, 1967 Larry married Miss Betty Esterline, together he and Betty have celebrated 48 years of marriage. For many years Larry was employed with the Eaton-Grede Foundry in Vassar, MI. After the foundry closed Larry than began working Aztec Industry and eventually retired from Aztec. Larry was raised and baptized in the United Methodist Church in Vassar, and was also a life time member of the Mayville VFW Post 10884.


Larry leaves his wife Betty and their family. Son; Jeff and wife Wendy Shannon, three grandchildren; Tyler, Ateeyah, and Jacob. He leaves also two sisters, Dessie Smith, Patricia (Pat) Emery, and other extended family and friends. Besides his parents Larry is also preceded in death by, a sister Kathleen Shannon, and a half-brother Gerald Shannon.
