Mrs. Jewell Lockwood

November 22, 1919 — January 20, 2011

Mrs. Jewell J. Lockwood of Frankenmuth formerly of Millington, passed away Thursday January 20th at her Frankenmuth residence, Jewell was 91.

Jewell Jessie Wilson the daughter of Oliver & Catherine (Tidrick) Wilson was born on November 22nd, 1919 in Superior Wisconsin. On January 24, 1942 Jewell married her husband of 59 years Ned Lockwood Sr. Ned preceded her in death in the year of 2000. Together after they married the young couple settled in Millington. Millington became their home, where they raised their two sons and Jewell became employed as a teacher in the Millington Public Schools. She taught Music, and Kindergarten, in which her first few years of Kindergarten she taught in her home, Jewell had a great love for children, and many students remember walking to "Mrs. Lockwood's house "for Kindergarten. Mrs. Lockwood also holds a prestigious place in Millington's history as she was once named Millington's Citizen of the year, and she is also a founding and charter member of the Millington -Arbela Historical Society. After her husband Ned passed away Jewell moved to Independence Village of Frankenmuth to reside and found herself among friends, and some of her retired teaching companions of the Millington Public Schools.

Jewell leaves her two sons and daughters' in-law, Ned & Vicky Lockwood Jr. and Jack & Nancy Lockwood also eight grandsons, one great grandson, a sister Mrs. Jane Wilson Smith, three nieces, great nieces and nephews, many friends and extended family.

Service Information

Honoring Jewell's wishes cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of her life will be held on April 9th at 3:00 PM 2011 at the Millington United Methodist Church, her ashes will be interred at the Millington Township Cemetery.The familiy will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the services. You're welcome to leave personal condolences, share a memory or light a Memory Candle, by opening the Memory Wall tab. If you would like to give a Memorial Gift of Remembrance the Lockwood family has asked that you direct them to the Millington-Arbela Historical Society. Hanlin Funeral Home of Millington has been assisting the family with the arrangements.
