Mrs. Laura Orr

Laura Elizabeth Orr, know as Betty by her hundreds of friends and family, peacefully passed on to our Lord on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Laura was 91 years of age and died at her residence in Pontiac, Michigan with her daughter by her side.

Laura was born on October 10, 1920 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to her parents, Harold and Bessie Johnson. A graduate of Vassar High School, Betty married Lloyd E. Orr on August 12, 1940 and started a family in Lincoln Park, Michigan.

Betty was active in the United Methodist Church, often leading the Women's Circle throughout her life in Belleville and Burton, Michigan. An avid communicator and letter correspondent, Betty stayed in touch with loved ones.

Laura is survived by her three children and their families: Larry E. Orr and wife Barbara of Oxford, Michigan.Lynne E. Orr-Holley and husband Frank Holley of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Lanny E. Orr and wife Laurie of Clarkston, Michigan.

Grandchildren include Laura Day and husband Jeremy; Sean MacMaster and wife Johanna; Benjamin Smith and wife Heidi; Dawn Holley, Brad Holley, and Laura Snead and husband Matthew; L. Maxwell, and Haleigh Orr. Laura is also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Adrianna, Jordan, and Abigail Day, and Avery MacMaster.

Laura is also survived by her siblings, Jim Johnson, Dick Johnson, Joan Pierce, and sisters-in-law Barbara Johnson, Lorraine Johnson, Wanda Johnson, and Betty Johnson, all of the Flint and northeast Michigan area.

Laura is predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Orr on February 14, 1995 and siblings William Johnson, Barbara Roth, D. Edward Johnson, Robert Johnson, and Bernard Johnson.

A celebration of Laura's life was held Saturday May 19, 2012 at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, Michigan, with graveside internment of Laura and Lloyd's ashes immediately following at the Millington Township Cemetery. Pastor Gregory Henneman of Clarkston Community Church delivered the memorial message and the closing prayers at the cemetery. If desired in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clarkston Community Church Youth Fund.
