Mr. Walter Coats

Walter H. (Walt) Coats of Millington passed away early Thursday morning June 5, 2014 while at the Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan, Walt was 80.

Walt was born on January 23, of 1934 in Flint Michigan. On January 30, of 1960 Walt married Miss Dorothy Ogden, together Walt and Dorothy celebrated 43 years of marriage before her passing in 2003. Walt retired from Steering Gear of General Motors in Saginaw, Michigan. In the past when Walt was able he had been attending the Otter Lake Church of the Nazarene.

Walt leaves his two children; Gregory (Greg) Coats, daughter Nettie & husband Mark Kaufmann, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers; James Coats, Jerry & wife Audrey Coats, Stanley Coats, three sisters ; Leona & husband Arnold Schmitter, Dora & husband Malcom Hazelwood, and Thelma & John Weeks. Walt leaves also nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. Besides his wife and parents Walt is also preceded in death by several siblings.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday June 10th 2014 at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, Michigan. The burial followed at the Millington Twp. Cemetery. Militasry honors were conducted at the graveside by the Conrad - Wager & Keene American Legion Post #164.
