Mr. Willard Gillespie

Mr. Willard M. Gillespie of Millington, MI passed away early Sunday afternoon June 11, 2017 while at the Lapeer Medical Care Facility in Lapeer, MI. Willard was 86.

Willard was born in Onaway, MI on December 18, 1930, and was the son of the late Henry and Blanch Gillespie. After graduating Willard served in the US- Airforce during the Korean War. When he returned from the Airforce he married Miss Betty DeRosia, on July 7, 1956 and together they have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Willard retired in 1989 from the Chevy-Truck and Bus Plant of General Motors in Flint, MI. He had been actively attending the Millington Church of the Nazarene with his wife Betty.

Willard leaves his wife Betty. He leaves also four children and their spouses; Henry Gillespie II, Paul and Jodi Gillespie, Vicky and Brian Powless, and Randall Gillespie. He leaves also eight grandchildren, 16.1/2 great-grandchildren, a sister Harriett Gillespie, several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Besides his parents, Willard is also preceded in death by three brothers; Dale, Loren, and Stanley Gillespie.

The Gillespie family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Tuesday June 13, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and for a brief time Wednesday morning from 10:00 am until services begin. Funeral services for Willard will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI. The burial will follow at the Millington Township Cemetery. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to the Millington Church of the Nazarene.
