Listen to Obituary

Mr. Otto E. Petzold, aged 88, was called home to his Lord & Savior on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Winter Village in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

Otto was born on June 28, 1937, in Arbela Township, Michigan, to Henry & Natalie Petzold née Hillert. He was raised alongside his brother, Arnold "Arnie", and sister, Wanda, and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington. Otto retired from Buick after working on the assembly line. He was an avid fisherman, especially walleye, and loved spending time outdoors and "Up North". Otto also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and the freedom of the open road. He operated his own sheep farm and had a love for all sorts of animals. He liked to attend polkas and dance, where he often showed off his limbo skills. Above all, Otto enjoyed the time that he spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Otto is survived by his brother, Arnie (Ruth Ann) Petzold; sister, Wanda Traver; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

He is reunited with his parents, Henry & Natalie Petzold, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

Otto's family will welcome visitors to Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington from 3 - 7 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026. On Saturday, May 16, 2026, Otto will be taken to St. Paul Lutheran Church (4941 Center Street, Millington, MI 48746; guests are asked to enter the driveway off of Fulmer Road) where he will lie in state from 10 AM until the time of the 11 AM funeral service. Rite of committal to follow in Millington Township Cemetery.

Those desiring may direct memorial gifts to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Winter Village.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.

He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
