Pamela “Pam” Sue Gean-Saylor, of Free Soil, Michigan, died Friday, April 4, 2025, surrounded by family, friends, and the Heartland Hospice team, after a courageous fight against cancer, at her sister’s home in Millington, Michigan.
She was born to George Lavern and Kathleen (Draper) Gean on January 22, 1954, in Owosso, Michigan. After graduating from Vassar High School, she attended Rochester Christian University, where she earned a degree in business. Pam cherished her family, was deeply devoted to animals, and had a strong faith in the Lord. Her love for Belgian Tervuren dogs and Morgan horses led her to be a 4-H leader for 25 years in Mason County, Michigan. Her beloved dog Cowboy, a Belgian Tervuren, even starred in the Dog Man movie. With her husband Kale, Pam would introduce all her grandchildren, her niece Amanda Jaruzel, Amanda’s daughter Bailey Everts, along with Alisha Edmondson, Jennifer Powers, and Cassie Thomas to her love for training, riding, and showing the Morgan horses that she and Kale bred and sold on their farm, Tomoro Farms. She loved to spend time outside with her grandchildren, especially later in life, with Gabriel, Aurora, Kenzi, and never missed a phone conversation with her sister, Cindy, with whom she shared a special bond. Despite the farm business, Pam found time to post daily devotions on Facebook. Throughout her battle with cancer, Pam remained incredibly resilient, never complaining and always providing hope and encouragement to those around her. She faced her pain with a smile, never neglecting her responsibilities to her faith, husband, family, and the farm. She found peace and resilience in this faith until the end of her life, including her favorite Bible passage, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.
Pam is survived by her husband, Kale Saylor, whom she married on December 25, 1999; her cherished children, Kathleen (Skye) Premo, Justin Lee Gean; step children, Betsy (Ryan) Fuzi, Callie (Edward) Grove, Stephen (Jenna) Saylor; 15 grandchildren Gabriel, Aurora, Kenzi, Brett, Jalie, Donovan, Angella, Erin, Schuyler, Cameron, Kaleb, Issac, Laylah, Natalie, and Everleigh; and 11 great grandchildren; siblings Cindy (Dave) Jaruzel, Roger Gean, Timothy (Sue) Gean, Kathy (Mike) Kern, and Steve Gean-Draper along with several nephews and nieces. Pam was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Rosemarie Gean, and her great-grandson Riley Taylor.
