Richard Allen Bush, age 75, loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on January 18th surrounded by those who loved him most. Rich lived a life defined by quiet strength, humility, steadfast perseverance, and a deep commitment to family and community.
The son of late Helen Henderson was born on December 13, 1950, in Flint, Michigan. He grew up in Millington, Michigan, where he graduated from Millington High School in 1969. He went on to complete a four-year college degree through General Motors, becoming a skilled trades mechanic. His strong work ethic and dedication led to a 30-year career with General Motors, followed by another 10 years with Fabbro’s Towing after his retirement.
Service to others was central to Rich’s life. He served his hometown as a reserve police officer with the Millington Police Department, a member of the Millington City Council, and as a firefighter and first responder for 20 years. In every role, Rich was dependable, hardworking, and quietly committed to doing what needed to be done.
Above all, Rich was a devoted family man who loved spending time with those closest to him. He enjoyed camping, swimming, and family gatherings, and could always be found cheering for his favorite teams, the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. He believed in showing up, helping where he could, and serving the community he called home.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Ann (Cypher) Bush, whom he married on September 27, 1997; his children Donald (Cassandra) Bush, Elicia (Matt) Bushard, Juan (Maribel) Bush, Owen (Kimmie Donnelly) Roberts, and Jimmie Roberts; 8 grandchildren: Zaceri, Shania, Gabriel, Sadina, Trent, Rickey, Tristan, Everly; 8 great-grandchildren: Averie, Asher, Bentley, Brennen, Braxton, Brayleigh, Dylan, Gracelyn. He is also survived by his siblings Dennis (Peggy) Bush, Roger (Susan) Bush, and Greg (Ellen) Bush as well as many nieces and nephews. Special mention is made of his granddaughter Kendal who cared for him through his recent illness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (Henderson) Bush; his sisters, Karen (Bush) Schnettler, and Sally (Bush) Heidger; his sister-in-law, Peggy Bush; and his granddaughter, Ashley.
A memorial service will be held at Hanlin Funeral Home of Millington, Michigan, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.; visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and last until the time of service.
