Mr. Richard Walter Conquest Walker Myers, age 84, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, at his family farm surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born on July 7, 1941, in Flint, Michigan, parents Robert Conquest & Flora Myers (née Hoskin). He married Cathy Sue Strickert on May 20, 1978, and together they shared countless memories, raised their children, and celebrated 47 years of marriage. Before retirement, Richard worked as an engineer for Mott Community College and with Genesee Memorial Hospital. Outside of his professional life, Richard was known for his sociable personality, and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies that connected him to nature. Farming was one of his passions, and he took pride in maintaining his family farm. His love for horses included showcasing his skills as a farrier and enjoying rodeos. Additionally, he was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, coaching soccer, and attending Millington Football games. A man of faith, Richard was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington. He proudly wore the title of “Grandpa” and loved supporting his grandchildren at sporting events and livestock shows. Above all, Richard loved time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is forever loved by his wife, Cathy Sue Myers; children: Joshua (Carrie) Myers, Zachary (Shawn) Myers, Jacob (Bobbi) Myers, and Heidi (Mike) Green; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Arthur (Catherine) Myers, and Robert (Anne) Myers; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Robert Conquest; mother, Flora (the late Bruce) Myers; son, Jeff Myers; brother, Fred Myers; and sister, Elizabeth Philpot.
Richard’s family will receive visitors at Hanlin Funeral Home – Millington from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Richard be taken to St. Paul Lutheran Church (4941 Center Street, Millington, MI 48746) and lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his 11:30 a.m. funeral service. Rev. Timothy Martinal to preside. Richard will be laid to rest in Thetford Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Genesee County Agricultural Society or St. Paul Lutheran Church & School or Millington Football Boosters.
