Mr. Robert F. (Bob) Ramsey Sr. of Millington, Michigan passed away Friday December 20, 2019 at the age of 89.
Bob was born on November 6, 1930 in Rogers City, Michigan and was the son of the late Charles and Eleanor (Wirgau) Ramsey. Bob served our country from 1947 until 1949 in the US-Army and was station both in Japan and Korea. At one time Bob worked for US-Steel and sailed the great-lakes with his father on the Great Lakes Freighter, Carl D. Bradley. Bob also loved hunting, fishing, following sports and watching the Tigers. On March 31, 1951 Bob married Miss Leona Batrow, and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage before Leona passed away in August of 2007. Bob owned and operated Ramsey’s Collision of which he started the business in 1970, upon retiring in 2007 he turned the business over to, his son’s Karl and Bob Jr. Bob was a past member of the Millington Lions Club, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington.
Bob leaves his family. Robert (Bob) and Cindy Ramsey Jr. Lynn and Brian Oliver, and Karl Ramsey. He leaves also seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters; Lois Kowalewsky, and Beverly Grulke, several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Besides his wife and parents Bob is also preceded in death by a son William (Bill) Ramsey in 2018, a brother Ronald Ramsey in 2008, and two infant brothers; Charles and Leo Ramsey.
The family has honored Bob’s request and cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Saturday January 4, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 p m for a time of sharing. A private burial of Bob’s Urn will take place following the visitation mon Saturday, with Military Honors. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the Millington Lions Club, or a charity of your choice.
