Shelby C. Buck

March 31, 1993 — June 20, 2025

Birch Run, formerly Millington/Vassar

Shelby Christine Buck, was born on March 31, 1993, in Flint, Michigan, and passed away on June 20, 2025, alongside the keeper of her heart, and fiancé, Mitchell Hendry. Their passing leaves a profound ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved them.

Shelby grew up around the Millington & Vassar areas. She attended Millington schools and graduated from Vassar High School with the class of 2011. Shelby was a deeply creative, compassionate, and faith-filled woman who brought beauty and meaning into everything she did. With an artist’s soul and a mother’s heart, she saw potential where other might not – whether in a forgotten piece of wood that she turned into something meaningful, or the lives of the people she loved the most. She could create something out of nothing and often did with grace, humor, and unmatched talent.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. Watching Shelby grow her relationship with God, especially in recent years, was profoundly inspiring. She learned to lean into him with grace and trust – and it showed in the way she loved, forgave, served, and lived. Her faith gave her strength, purpose, and the kind of peace that others could feel in her presence.

Shelby was a devoted and exceptional mother. She homeschooled her boys with dedication, endless care, and joy; a responsibility she never took lightly. She approached their education, like all things, with patience, determination, and intentionality. Always seeking to nurture not just their minds, but their spirits. Her children are kind, funny, loving, independent, and respectful – a true reflection of the love and energy she and Mitchell poured into their lives. She not only taught them, but she also formed them. It is clear to everyone who meets them that they were raised in a home filled with love, purpose, and warmth.

She loved to create, to teach, to grow things – from her glorious ever-growing garden to her children’s hearts. Whether painting, sewing, working with her hands, or spending time outdoors with her family, Shelby found joy in the simple things. The family cherished time together in their backyard, kayaking, fishing, or just being home. Her home was her sanctuary, her favorite place to be, and she made it one for her children.

To be around Shelby was to feel seen and loved. Her artistic gifts didn’t just create beautiful things, but also connections. If she made you something, you knew she really had seen you, and reflected it with such care and love. She gave of herself so fully and never asked for anything in return. Her presence was grounding, her laughter was contagious, her energy was rare. She was soft but steady, gentle but fierce when needed - a protector, a listener, and passionate about those she loved.

Shelby was a devoted daughter, a loyal sister, and a fun, incredibly loving aunt. She carried people in her heart with deep care. Her legacy is not only in the things she made, or the words she said – it is in the way she made people feel loved, safe, seen and known.

Shelby’s absence leaves behind an immeasurable space, but her spirit – free, beautiful, soft, and steady lives on through her boys, her family, and the countless people she touched with her love and art.

She is forever loved by her sons, Waylon Hendry and Owen Hendry; mother, Christine (Michael) Kosha; father, Kelly Buck; sister and best friend, Laci Arrowood; grandmother, Deborah Buck; niece and nephews: Cole Arrowood, Hailey, Lee, and Stetson; cousin and lifelong best friend, Desari Benyo; brother-in-law, Ryan Arrowood; as well as a tribe of cousins, many extended family members, and friends who will carry her memory and spirit for the rest of their lives.

Shelby was preceded in death by her grandparents, Glen & Kathleen Chatters; and grandfather, Alan Buck.

A joint service honoring the lives of Shelby and Mitchell will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 2 p.m., with visiting starting at 1 p.m. at the Frankenmuth Bible Church. Pastor Joseph Berkobien will officiate. Cremation will follow services.

To know Shelby was to witness grace. Her life was a testimony to love, faith, and to the power of creating beauty and meaning in the smallest of moments. Her light will never fade.
