VASSAR, formerly MILLINGTON – Terri Lynn Powell, aged 69, was called away on October 26, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family after a long journey with dementia.
Terri was born in Flint, Michigan, on July 12, 1957, daughter of Karl & Karen (Bouchard) Dahlstrom. She grew up in Flint alongside her brothers, Dan, Karl Jon, and Matthew, and moved to Millington when she was around 15. She graduated from Millington High School with the class of 1975. Terri played for the girl’s basketball team and was known for her ability to shoot corner 3s. Through school, she met the love of her life, Mitch Powell. Their lifelong love began at the age of 15 and the two were wed on November 2, 1974. They have shared countless memories, raised their children, and celebrated over 51 years of marriage.
Before retirement, Terri worked with Bavarian Inn as a bartender and with Corrigan Moving Company for over 25 years. She enjoyed spending time golfing, bowling, running, and tending to her flower gardens. Terri and Mitch spent many years at their cabin on Silver Lake enjoying the sand dunes and the water. Terri was an avid video poker player and would often travel to Las Vegas to play. Terri also liked to shop and keep an eye out for a great deal. Above all, her happiest moments were spent with her family and grandchildren. She always loved to gift the grand kids a new toy from the “Magic Closet” at grandma’s house. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Terri is survived by her husband, Mitch Powell; daughter, Tracy (Cody); son, Nick (Marshelle); grandchildren: Jenna, Trevor, Abbie, Luke, and Kelsie; brothers: Dan, Karl Jon, and Matthew (Lisa); mother, Karen Dahlstrom; brother and sister in law, Dennis (Teresa) Powell; mother-in-law, Barbara Powell; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Karl Dahlstrom; father-in-law, Martin Powell Jr; brother-in-law, Marty Powell; and nephew, Derek Dahlstrom.
The family extends their thanks and appreciation to Terri’s caregivers Andrea, Janie, Marge, Jack, Craig, and Renee, and countless others for the wonderful care they provided for Terri.
