Mrs. Wanda Mae Johnson, 100, our social, great, and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away on July 22, 2025, at Wellspring Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The family extends their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Wellspring for their care of Wanda for the last 4 years.
Wanda was born on February 14, 1925, in Akron, Michigan, to Harold & Mildred (Rohlfs) Hess. She married Robert “Bob” Johnson on July 27, 1942. In her working years, Wanda worked at BandBox Dry Cleaners and Central Shop-Rite in Vassar. Later, she and Bob managed a senior citizen apartment complex in Vassar. Wanda was also a member of the Presbyterian Church in Vassar. She loved to play cards, put puzzles together, and complete word searches. She always was in attendance for her four sons’ sporting events. Wanda also enjoyed going on boat rides and being the spotter when her boys were water skiing. This past February she celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at Zehnder’s in Frankenmuth.
Wanda is forever loved by her sons: Rob (Jude) Johnson of Goodyear, AZ, Ron (Gloria) Johnson of Davison, MI, Dan (Mary) Johnson of Vassar, MI; daughter-in-law, Dianna Hoffman of Cross Village, MI; grandchildren: Chad (Paula) Johnson of Goodyear, AZ, Lisa (Kevin) Bryant of Phoenix, AZ, Dan “Dirk” (Jennifer) Johnson of Jackson, MI, Eric (Jess) Johnson of Vassar, MI, Darrin Donaldson of Flint, MI, Bill (Donna) Johnson of Powder Springs, GA, and Brian (Kelly) Johnson of Saginaw, MI; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
