Byron Smith

Mr Byron William Smith of Millington, Michigan passed away early Monday morning December 31, 2018. Byron was 83.

He was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Zuke) Smith and was born in Flint on June 3, 1935. Byron graduated from Millington High School, and after high school he married Lucretia Olvey on June 8, 1957; and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage. Byron served in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He retired from Buick in 1999 after being employed for 25 years.

Byron leaves his two children and their spouses, Tracey (Kenton) Gleason and Leslie (Maureen) Smith. Byron also leaves four grandchildren; Trevor and wife Angel Gleason, Mellicha Gleason, Tyler and wife Lindsay Smith, Sydney Smith and fiancé Joseph Huss, three great grandchildren; Sophia and Emelyn Gleason and Knox Smith. Byron’s surviving sibling is Leon Smith. Byron also leaves several nieces, nephews, brother and sister in-laws, extended family and friends. Besides his spouse Lucretia, Byron is preceded in death by a grandson Jamie Gleason.

The family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI. on Saturday January 5, 2019 beginning at 12:00pm.  Funeral services for Byron will be held at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Saturday, January 5, 2019 beginning at 1:00 pm.  The burial will follow at the Millington Township Cemetery. Pastor Gerald Harrington will deliver the funeral message and committal prayers at the cemetery.
