Charles H. Coon a lifelong Millington resident, passed away early Monday afternoon May 4, 2020 with his family at his side, Charles was 79.
Charles was the son of the late Clifford and Margarite (Stoddard) Coon and was born in Millington, Michigan on September 25, 1940. He grew up in Millington and graduated from Millington High School. After graduation he served our country from 1961 to 1965 in the US-Army. On June 25, 1972 Chares married Norma Crandall, and together they have celebrated 47 years of marriage. Charles was active in his community; he was a member of the Millington Lions Club, a member of the Millington Masonic Lodge #282, and Eastern Star Chapter #390, active with Jobs Daughters Bethel #63, and was a long time member of the Millington United Methodist Church. Charles retired from General Motors Buick Division after 33 years of employment.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Norma. He also leaves five children: Gilbert (Debbie) Burns, Elizabeth (Alf) Chappel, Vivian Burns (Bill Mills), Sandra (Mike) Kujat, Ann Marie (Shawn) Tanner, 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren. Charles leaves a sister Margarite Aulbert, and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents, Charles is also preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Daly, and a grandson LJ (Leland) Clothier.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Due to current circumstances and in compliance with public safety standards, visitors are permitted to pay their respects to Charles. However, face coverings must be worn, social distancing rules apply, and no more than 10 individuals are permitted within Hanlin Funeral Home at any one time.
Graveside services for Charles will be held on Friday beginning at 1:00 pm at the Millington Twp. Cemetery with burial to follow. Pastor John Britt will have a prayer service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers you are welcome to give a donation of your choice.
