Katherine Rohn

July 2, 1936 — April 29, 2020

Katherine Rohn of Vassar passed away April 29, 2020 after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. Katherine was 83 years old.

Katherine was born on July 2, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Simon and Katherine (Tilger) Kappel. She married Raymond Rohn on September 15, 1956. They were married for 56 years until his death on April 6, 2013. Katherine was employed at Nagel Paper in Saginaw and Zehnders Restaurant in Frankenmuth where she was proudly employed for 50 years until her retirement in 2018.

Katherine was a fantastic wife, mother, grandma, and greatma and we are all going to miss her so much. She has left us with so many happy memories. Mom and Dad gave us all such a wonderful life. Katherine is survived by her 5 children: Janet Rohn, Barbara Tereau, Mikel (Kara) Rohn, Donald Rohn (Paula Murdock), and Teresa (John) Malace, all of Vassar. her six grandchildren: Holly Malace, Macey, Chase, and Ava Rohn, Kylee (Ben) Kesemeyer, and Chelsae Howe, her great-grandson Leo O'Hearn, sisters: Joan (Eugene) Laux of Frankenmuth, Donna Zeilinger of Reese, and Nora (Bob) Matonek of Reese, sisters-in-law: Irene Engel and Irma Neuchterlein of Frankenmuth, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Judy Mielke, in-laws: Heinz Mielke, James Zeilinger, Bill & Lynda Rohn, Raymond & Marilyn Zehnder, Ernst & Mildred Daenzer, Ed Rohn, Carroll Neuchterlein, & Raymond Engel, parents-in-law Williams & Linda Rohn.

Katherine's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Zehnder's family for the kindness they had shown Katherine over the years of her employment. She loved her job & looked forward to it. When she was unable to be a server anymore she still wanted to work & they were kind enough to keep her employed & let her fold napkins. She thought of them as her second family.

We would also like to thank all the caregivers at Bavarian Comfort Care for the excellent & nurturing care you gave mom. When she told you she loved you, she meant it. And we would also like to thank the Heartland Hospice nurses, chaplain, and social worker for their care of mom during this terrible illness.
Funeral services for Katherine will be private. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance may be directed to the family.
