Phyllis Southgate

Phyllis Southgate, age 81, of Port Huron, formerly of Fairgrove, passed away on Sunday, November 27th, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Phyllis was born in Caro on October 2nd, 1941, to parents Herman & Isabelle (Steinman) Hadaway. She graduated from Fairgrove High School with the Class of 1959, where she was involved as a cheerleader. A dedicated family woman, Phyllis was a homemaker and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren; she especially enjoyed watching them play sports. Further, she enjoyed gardening, bowling, and trips to the casino. She will be remembered for her passionate & strong-willed ways, and for her love of family.

She is survived by her daughters, Christy (Dave) Zanatta and Pamela (Jeffrey) Smith; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers: Keith (Jane) Hadaway, Robert (Sharon) Hadaway, Richard Hadaway, Thomas Hadaway, and James Hadaway; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Durelle (the late Shirley) Hadaway; and sisters-in-law, Violet Hadaway and Diana Hadaway.

The family will welcome guests to Hanlin Funeral Home – Vassar, on Friday, December 2nd, 2022, from 11 a.m. until the time of Phyllis’ 1 p.m. funeral service. Immediately afterwards, Phyllis will be laid to rest in Brookside Cemetery, Fairgrove.
