Stanley "Stan" Burkowski

Millington- Mr. Stanley “Stan” Burkowski passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was 85.

Stan was born in Vassar, Mi to the late Joseph and Irene Burkowski on July 23, 1936. Stan graduated from Vassar High School Class of ’54. He joined the Navy Reserves. Joe and Irene bought the Millington Hardware in 1958, with the plan that Stan would run it. The hardware was his pride and joy. He then went to work for General Motors, and his father and wife (at that time) Gayle helped run the Hardware.  He loved being able to employ many local high school students. He spent so much time and effort in the hardware. When he wasn’t working at the hardware you could find him, hunting, fishing, drag racing hot rods, and reading about world history. Stan was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.

To cherish in Stan’s memory is his wife, Patty; children, Terry Burkowski, Tammy Burkowski, Sue Ann Hughes; stepchildren, Ty Jr.(Vickie) Beebe, Lloyd (Red) Beebe, John Beebe, and Lee (Kim) Beebe; seven grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; Brother, Robert (Mary) Burkowski, and sister, Dorothy Crawford; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Welcoming Stan home were his parents, his sister Marion Murry, and brother-in-law John Crawford.

Stan's family would like to invite friends to Hanlin Funeral Home (4823 Main St. Millington, MI 48746) on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The funeral for Stan will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Millington Twp. Cemetery. Visiting before the funeral will start at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers please make a memorial contribution to the Millington Arbela Township Fire Department, Millington Community Center, Millington Historical Museum, and/or the Millington Arbela Twp. Library.
